Preliminary Task (contents page)

This is my contents page for my Sixth Form magazine. I used a graffiti style font once again to appeal to teenagers, and the younger generation. The other font looks like handwritting, which relates well to school life.
The pictures are of actual students, which gives a good impression of the students. I also put the Chew Valley cress amongst the pictures, to represent the school.

Preliminary Task, (front cover)

This is my final idea for a magazine front cover. The magazine is aimed at Chew Valley sixth form, and therefore the age range it suits is 16 - 18.

I think it is extremely suitable for its target audience because of its informal and innovative style. For example, I crossed the word "school" out with what looks like a red biro, and added "...Sixth Form" underneath. This looks like graffiti, which is representitive of modern teenagers. It also gives a young "hip" outlook - which is the desired effect of the magazine on the young audience.

I took the main picture on a basic camera, and edited it using paint.net. I thought it would be suitiable to take pictures of the sixth form, so its relatable.

The school would distribute my magazine, and offer it to Sixth Form on a weekly basis.
My magazines main aim is to deliver weekly information to Sixth Form. All information inside is based on Sixth Form and main areas of the school.

Roland Barthes & Ferdinand De Saussure and possible idea for cousework (print task).

Roland Barthes (12 November 1915 – 25 March 1980) he was french and a literary theorist, philosopher, and critic. In his lifetime Roland Barthes published seventeen books and lots of articles,

Ferdinand De Saussure was born on November 26, 1857, in Switzerland. He learned Sanskrit, Greek, German, Latin, French, and English. He wrote one book called "Memoir on the Original System of Vowels in the Indo-European Languages". He was a very influencing teacher through out his life, and studied languages.

Im thinking of doing the "print" task for my coursework main piece. I done a DVD cover, and film posters at GCSE and really enjoyed using things such as paint.net, i also felt that my final piece really well.
Because i read the NME and Kerrang all the time, i have a good idea of magazines which suit my music taste, therefor i'd have lots of experiance and ideas to put forward for my own magazine.
I'd definatley do a music magazine focusing on music i love, and take photos including my friends, and maybe my own gig photos i have took so its my own work.
